wtf is with the Paranoia in the U.S. Government?
MSNBC today printed a story (here) that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been opening mail - even better is that it's from a retired history professor
And then it still gets better, the guy that told the press was an officer in WWII where he apparently had to censor his troops and he reckons the job Homeland Security is doing is just a bit less than average.
God save America!

God I love George Carlin!
Part of his repertoire at every show is a good, old fashioned logical assault on organised religion and this one's as good as you could want! Pruning down the 10 commandments to those that 'really' matter.
but yeah - organised religion pisses me off - just check out H.E.R.B. for proof why the world's in trouble when organised religion is in control.

Dr. McNinja & Fiji
Found a really quite good webcomic called Dr. McNinja about a doctor who hates diabetes patients and, in the current issue, has to fight off a posse of Mexican badidos riding velociraptors.
On another note, I WON A TRIP TO FIJI! So stoked, it turns out that I've organised to spend 5 days skiing in NZ, and then head to Nadi for some fun in the sun. Does mean some hardcore working out before I get there though.
GoogleSpreadsheet will be released sometime tonight. Everyone seems to be making such a big deal about a web-based spreadsheet and I just don't get it! OpenOffice has had them for years; but...whatever turns you on.

Using your books for decoration when you aren't reading them
Firstly, the Bibliochaise by nobodyandco in Italy.
A chair wrapped in '5 linear metres of bookspace'. Apparently not too uncomfortable either.

Then, again for those literary lovers out there we have a choice of two 'invisible bookshelves':
One for holding books with the spines vertical; the Sticklebook design uses a comb-like method to hold the books (and presumably pinch the pages and covers a bit).

Then for those of us wanting a possibly more trustworthy bookshelf, there's Singuiler's design
which uses a simple brace.

Cool ideas. Obviously of lot of people like us who, despite the Internet, still really like their books.

Kinda eerie coincidence

For thousands of years the Incans worshipped the Sun and based their religion in Cuzco and now it turns out that Cuzco recieves more UV radiation than any other place on Earth - just a bit freaky

Back again
okay - what have I been up to lately?
working to an horrendous extent during the mid-sem hols - while it's good work and the people are by and large really nice i still have to focus on my mantra "just keep thinking of the money" but it is good!
I've been modding my computer a lot lately both as a form of procrastination and to get the most out of it's limited abilities as possible. It's led to my acceptance of the Google brand as a whole; you name it i've now got it Talk, Toolbar and even Calendar which is good and time-saving in the short-term but I'm wondering about how many calendars I actually need.
I've been watching a lot of daytime TV - not actively, just in the background while I'm studying or browsing, and I've got to say Ellen DeGeneres is really pretty good, I like it, and that damn Ready, Steady, Cook is addictive (but not in a good way)
That's right - haven't posted since my birthday - was good despite being a few people down but was a good event and had good pressies from everyone - btw thanks guys - was all very good
I'm rocking at uni these days...which is a pleasant change - I've found that it's actually pretty easy when you do the work
So there's a brief check up on what's happening lately and I guess if I actually want a blog I should actually update it more often...hmm wonder if I should put reminders on my gCalendar...hmmm
oh and it's my sister's birthday today so Happy Birthday Kiz!

OHMYGOD!
I'm sitting here next to two people arguing the evilness of George W. Bush because America faked the moon landing using a Filipino made and German/Slovenian designed lunar lander. Ohmygod! "America is evil because they told the Vietnamese to vote for Independence and then they left them let go until Australia had to move in troops to save the day!" (WTF?)
Oh and apparently now Russia made it to the moon first!
Oh well...
